Personal Hygiene Analysis and Implementation of Health Protocols at the Cafe 'X' Medan City in 2022
Introduction
The safety and health of visitors is a top priority in public places, including cafes. However, based on observations in several cafes in the city of Medan, there are still many who have not fully complied with the health protocol, such as keeping distance, wearing masks, and washing hands. This has the potential to increase the risk of COVID-19 transmission. This study aims to analyze personal hygiene and the implementation of health protocols at the Cafe 'X' Medan City in 2022, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Methodology
This study uses a descriptive method with the population of managers and visitors to the 'X' cafe. The research sample amounted to 145 people, consisting of 100 visitors and 45 managers, chosen using purposive sampling techniques. The data was collected through a questionnaire that consisted of questions about personal hygiene, health protocols, and demographic information.
Demographic Profile of Visitors and Managers
The results showed that most visitors to the 'X' cafe were in the category of young adults (26-35 years) (57.8%), male sex (75.6%), medium education (53.3%), and has an income of less than Rp 3,329,867 (57.8%). Meanwhile, the majority of the last teenagers 'X' cafe managers (17-25 years) (61%), male (76%), medium education (58%), and have an income of less than Rp 3,329,867 (53%).
Knowledge of Personal Hygiene and Health Protocols
The level of visitor knowledge of personal hygiene and health protocols is mostly in the medium category (51%) and good (24%). Meanwhile, the knowledge of the 'X' cafe manager about personal hygiene and health protocols is mostly in the good category (73.3%) and moderate (26.7%).
Attitude of Visitors and Managers in Implementing Personal Hygiene and Health Protocols
The attitude of visitors in applying personal hygiene and health protocols is mostly in the good category (81%) and moderate (19%). The attitude of the 'X' cafe manager in implementing personal hygiene and health protocols is mostly in the good category (84.4%) and (84%) in the implementation of health protocols.
Action in Implementing Personal Hygiene and Health Protocols
The results also showed that 73% of visitors and 82.2% of the 'X' cafe manager had action in implementing personal hygiene and health protocols during Pandemi Covid-19 in the good category. As many as 77.8% of the 'X' cafe provides facilities for COVID-19 prevention.
Conclusion
This study shows that although most of the managers and visitors of the 'X' cafe have good knowledge and attitudes about personal hygiene and health protocols, they still need to be improved. Increased knowledge and education, especially regarding the symptoms of COVID-19, becomes important. This is expected to increase compliance and awareness in implementing personal hygiene and health protocols at the 'X' cafe so that it helps suppress the spread of COVID-19.
Recommendations
Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations are made:
- The 'X' cafe should provide regular training and education to its managers and staff on personal hygiene and health protocols.
- The 'X' cafe should increase the availability of facilities for COVID-19 prevention, such as hand sanitizer and masks.
- The 'X' cafe should implement a system to monitor and evaluate the compliance of its managers and staff with personal hygiene and health protocols.
- The 'X' cafe should provide incentives to its managers and staff who consistently comply with personal hygiene and health protocols.
Limitations of the Study
This study has several limitations, including:
- The study only focused on the 'X' cafe and may not be generalizable to other cafes.
- The study only collected data from a sample of 145 people and may not be representative of the entire population of visitors and managers.
- The study only used a descriptive method and may not have captured the underlying factors that influence personal hygiene and health protocols.
