Introduction
Catfish, also known as Pangasius sp., is a type of fish that has a high economic value and is in high demand by consumers. However, the increasing demand for catfish is not matched by intensive and optimal cultivation practices. One solution to overcome this problem is to replace commercial feed commonly used with sweep fish meat flour (Lyposarcus pardalis), which is known to have a high protein content. This study aims to determine the effect of sweep fish meat flour on catfish growth.
Background
Catfish is a type of fish that is widely cultivated in many countries, including Indonesia. The increasing demand for catfish has led to an increase in catfish farming, but unfortunately, this increase in demand is not matched by intensive and optimal cultivation practices. One of the main challenges faced by catfish farmers is the high cost of commercial feed, which is often more expensive than other types of feed. Therefore, it is necessary to find alternative feed sources that are more affordable and can support the growth of catfish.
Methodology
In this study, the catfish used have a size between 8 to 11 cm and are cultivated in a pond measuring 2 x 1 meter with a random arrangement of nine units. Fish growth data are measured and analyzed using ANOVA, followed by a tukey test at a 95% confidence level using SPSS 21 software. Patin fish are fed with various protein content, namely 16%, 21%, and 26%. The results showed that the sweep fish meat flour can be used as a substitution for fish meal in fish feed.
Results
The results of this study showed that the sweep fish meat flour can be used as a substitution for fish meal in fish feed. Of the three types of feed tested, feed with a protein content of 26% provides the best growth, with a length of 4.16 cm long growth and weight gain of 13.02 g and a specific growth rate of 57.90%. Discussion
The results of this study showed that the sweep fish meat flour can be used as a substitution for fish meal in fish feed.
